It's been a year!

I can't believe it's been almost a year since I last posted. To say it's been a hell of year is an understatement. So much has changed, including my address, so here's a little catchup. Work is now in my rear window, and I am pleased to say I'm officially retired as of November 1, 2024! I'm still adjusting but happy to be in charge of my days.

The biggest news of all is that after 32 years, I have moved. It's only 10 minutes away from my old home, but my kids and I have purchased a small acreage and are going to "live" together!! We will actually have 3 separate dwelling units so we won't be on top of each other, but will share expenses, work and have lots of fun!

Our new home is nestled in a little valley with a mountain view. My one-bedroom suite still has to be built, but the main house has been recently renovated and the two-bedroom + den was built about 15 years ago, so neither of those require much work.

The main house is a 4-level split, so my daughter Sarah and her husband and two daughters now live in the top two levels. The bottom two levels will be considered common areas, a family room/laundry/bathroom on the ground-floor level and us girls will share a craft room that is a little larger than what I have now in the lowest level.

Part of the future craft room/art studio:

There is are two smaller rooms attached to this room that will be incorporated as well. It doesn't have the same lighting as I have now, but that will be a easy fix, as my sons-in-law are very handy and have connections to professionals as well. This area is where I was living when we first moved in, but more about that later!

The existing suite is occupied by my other daughter Brianna and her husband and son.  It is the white door on the left-hand side of the first picture. My suite is going to be built in between the two. You can't see it in the picture, it is hiding behind the green fake bush wall! And I got to help design it - Sarah is a draftsperson, so handy.  We are just waiting for the permits to be approved.

In this view, you can see the existing suite and where mine will be. That dark blob covers what was a former carport and is closed in to provide storage. This is where my kitchen/dining space will be and we will be building an addition in front for my living/sitting room (hopefully a bay window) with the door to the right.

We have dreamed and talked about having a family compound for years and I can't believe it has come to fruition! We sold our two houses within a couple of weeks (before the housing market was affected by all the tariff garbage).

Once the house was ready for showing, I didn't have a lot of housework to do, so I had a lot of free time to sew, scrapbook and cross-stitch. I finished my Flower Girl quilt top but still have to finish the backing so I can send it out for quilting. Of course, now I can't find pictures and I'll explain why I can't take new ones tomorrow!

Bye from Canada's hot spot today!
